He has for a decade advised several Fortune 500 companies in a range of sectors and also represented them in their disputes such as disputes arising from Joint Venture Agreements; Infrastructure and Construction projects related to power, renewable energy, oil & gas etc.; disputes arising from Shareholders’ Agreements, Share Purchase Agreements, claims for oppression and mismanagement of companies, allegations of fraud or misappropriation etc., that are frequently multi-jurisdictional.

He also specialises in representational and advisory services in the areas of white-collar crime and forensic & corporate espionage investigations. He regularly advises on contract management in relation to large infrastructure and construction projects. He has represented clients before the Supreme Court and high courts across India.

  • Advised Green Infra Wind Energy Limited on contract management in relation to erection, procurement, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a 252 MW wind power project at Dasalpur site at Kutch, Gujarat.
  • Advised Green Infra Renewable Energy Limited on contract management in relation to erection, procurement, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a 249.9 MW wind power project at Chandragiri Site in taluk Ottapidaram & Tuticorin of district Tuticorin situated in the state of Tamil Nadu.
  • Advised Green Infra Wind Energy Limited on contract management in relation to erection, procurement, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a 50 MW wind power project at Sadla Site in the Surendranagar district situated in the state of Gujarat.
  • Advised Sembcorp Energy India Limited on contract management in relation to erection, procurement, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a 2X660 MW thermal power project (TPCIL) at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
  • Advised Cobra Instalaciones Y Servicios Limited on contract management in relation to erection, procurement, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a 150 mld capacity desalination plant based on sea water reverse osmosis at Nemmeli, East Coast Road, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
  • Advising Sembcorp Green Infra Limited and its subsidiaries on contract management in relation to erection, procurement, commissioning, operation and maintenance of various wind power projects situated at Bhud Maharashtra, Dalot 1 Rajasthan, Rojwas Madhya Pradesh, Theni Tamil Nadu, Karadikonda Andhra Pradesh Vagarai, Tamil Nadu.
  • Represented Johnson Controls Enterprise Ltd. before the Supreme Court in opposing a landmark petition filed under Section 11 of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996 before the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court of India agreed with our contentions and declined to intervene to appoint an arbitrator in a Singapore seated arbitration. In doing so the Supreme Court of India, constructed a pathological arbitration clause to hold that the intention of the Parties was to choose SIAC to be the appointing authority.
  • Represented Sphere Invest Viridian Property Fund (an offshore fund for investments in India) in its disputes as a strategic investor with its Indian joint venture partner in respect of real estate and construction projects.
  • Represented Schlumberger Limited in an ad hoc domestic arbitration against ONGC Ltd. involving disputes arising out of a multi-million dollar EPC contract.
  • Represented Air Liquide S.A in a multi-million dollar arbitration in India against the Indian Oil Corporation in relation to gas pricing and interpretation of several contract terms.
  • Represented Johnson Controls Enterprise Ltd. in proceedings initiated pursuant to disputes with its joint venture partner before the Madras High Court.
  • Advised a Chinese agri-tech equipment manufacturer in a London seated arbitration in relation to disputes arising out of a series of agreements for sale of various silo equipment to a Ukranian buyer.
  • Representing Cobra Instalaciones Y Servicios, S.A in an international arbitration in its contractual disputes, pertaining to laying down of electrification lines in the State of Uttarakhand, India.
  • Representing Cobra Instalaciones Y Servicios, S. A in an arbitration emerging from disputes relating to a sub contract on a back to back basis for 100% of the scope of a supply and works contract between the client and the principal employer.
  • Represented Sembcorp Energy India Limited in arbitration(s) in respect of disputes arising out of contract(s) for development, erection, commissioning, operation, and management of wind farm project(s), involving an approximate total claim amount of INR 1,471.20 crores.
  • Represented Sembcorp Green Infra Gayatri Power Limited, in a section 9 proceedings in respect of disputes emanating from a settlement agreement wherein the approximate total claim amount is INR 400 crores.
  • Representing Green Infra Wind Energy India Ltd., in a Section 9 proceedings pending adjudication before the Delhi High Court, in respect of disputes emanating from a settlement agreement with its O&M service partners.
  • Representing Green Infra Wind Energy India Ltd., in a Section 9 proceedings pending adjudication before the High Court of Telangana, Hyderabad, in respect of disputes emanating from a settlement agreement with its O&M service partners.
  • Representing M/s. Cobra Instalaciones Y Servicios, S.A. in an arbitration with respect to disputes emanating from a Supply and Works Contract executed between CIPL-Cobra JV and Chief Project Manager, Railway Electrification Board, Jabalpur for Design, Supply, Erection, Testing & commissioning of construction of 25 kV, 50 Hz, AC Single Phase Over Head Equipment including TSS & SCADA Works in Satna (Excl.) – Jabalpur (Excl.) Section, Group 174.
  • Successfully represented Hindustan Construction Company, in arbitrations against National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in respect of disputes arisen under Concession Agreements entered for four laning of certain sections of Highways in the state of West Bengal, and for collection of toll along sections of National Highway 34, on a design, build, finance, operate, transfer model. The claim amount involved in the said arbitrations was approximately INR 2,000 Crores.
  • Represented Rheinmetall Air Defense AG of Switzerland in a trial before a CBI Special Court wherein charges qua the client were in the realm of violation of anti-bribery laws in India.
  • Represented the global CEO of a European Union defense conglomerate (name confidential) in proceedings before the Delhi High Court wherein summons issued against him by the CBI Special Court in relation to charges of unlawfully gratifying an Indian government official were successfully quashed.
  • Advised and formulated strategy for a major English aero defense corporation (name confidential) in relation to possible bribery charges in India. Advised on complex issues of interplay between laws in UK and India, particularly surrounding a deferred prosecution agreement entered in the UK.
  • Representing a leading European Union Défense conglomerate (name confidential) in an appeal before the Delhi High Court instituted by the Central Bureau of Investigation against an order of discharge passed by a CBI Special Court.

Here, there were complex issues of the interplay of rudimentary principles of criminal jurisprudence and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code of India.

  • Advised and represented Seven3 Sports Pvt. Ltd. before courts in India in a dispute pertaining to broadcast rights of the Indian Premier League, for Nepal and Bangladesh.
  • Advised Seagate Technology International in respect of litigation strategy for enforcement of a foreign decree in India.
  • Advised G4S Holdings in its ongoing dispute with its Indian counterpart under the Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act.
  • Represented the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board in a Public Interest Litigation involving fixation of CNG prices in Delhi, NCR.
